His excellent description draws you in from the beginning and enables the reader to picture exactly where the characters find themselves. The parallel story lines running through this book had me on the edge of my seat and tense with anticipation. If you haven't read the first four books then I recommend you do so before reading this one as the plot and characters build over the 5 books. I hope I don't have to wait too long for the next one.

So sorry that I cannot write a proper review at the moment, as I enjoyed it sooo much the first time through that I have to read it again. A third time through is a distinct possibility!
WOW! Change of pace in this fifth book, lots of action and a switching between concurrent plot lines that really gets you on the edge of your seat as they draw together. Mr Mears had better get writing fast, I genuinely can't wait for the next instalment!
The Tyler May series of books has maintained good character consistency within a series of books where each is significantly different from its predecessors. Throughout the books the stakes have got higher as new twists are introduced that keep elevating the threat to the main characters. The device acquired by Tyler May in the first book was initially equivalent to super powers, but it is beginning to look wholly insufficient in the face of increasingly powerful evil.

The clever use of equally gripping parallel stories builds excitement the more you read.
The artistic use of words in describing surroundings means your imagination is constantly stimulated and I was totally drawn in and on the edge of my seat for most of the book. Exactly what you want for an engaging read. It feels like Tyler, Lucy and Melissa have 'grown up' in this book and become experienced agents working better as a tighter team. However there are various challenges and tensions that come to the surface adding interesting dimensions to the plot. The whole story is building to what seems like a crescendo so I can't wait til the next book. This is the definately the best yet and a must read!
We're now up to book five and if I was worried that the pace might be waning, then it was misplaced. There are still plenty of 'will they make it?' scenes that kept me turning pages. The action moves from real places to imagined lands and back again; the city-based jaunts seemed very Dan Brown-esque. Well, to me at least. Whether it was the writing style or the story line I can't be sure, but I found myself caring more and more about the characters. They now seem very real to the point where I'm eagerly awaiting the final book to see how it all turns out.

This book does end with a shock. But I don't do spoilers so you'll just have to read it yourself...
