Something Wicked Michelle Rowen 9780425237465 Books Reviews
Michelle Rowen's Something Wicked (A Living in Eden Novel) is a fun book, and it smooths out some of the mild starting issues that were present in The Demon in Me. It's particularly interesting to see Darrak struggle with wanting to be the big, bad demon he used to be, but finding himself constantly stymied by his feelings for Eden. And of course, there continue to be some serious trust issues between the two. In some ways it felt like it was carried out a little far still, but on the whole it was a good balance of understandable weaknesses and forgivable sins.
I like the ongoing plot in this series; there's plenty of supernatural politics, particularly in Hell, and it's entertaining and fun. The combination of dark paranormal, humor, erotic romance, and camp is balanced much better this time, creating a smoother tone. Malleus is still a little one-dimensional in its "good guys gone bad" aspect; I would like to feel a little less certain in my dislike of them as a whole, given their original mission to protect humanity from supernaturals.
There are some plot developments in particular that I enjoyed, but I don't dare get into them for fear of giving away the delightful surprises this book has in store. Suffice it to say, Andy puts in more of an appearance, the politics of Hell make things quite fascinating, and both hilarity and tragedy abound. I very much look forward to reading the next installment!

Something Wicked by Michelle Rowen
Paranormal Romance- Oct 5th, 2010
4 Stars
Something Wicked is a romance in contemporary time period with paranormal and suspense elements.
Eden Riley is in a fix. She is a white witch possessed by a demon named Darrak. And not just any demon but a cursed archdemon created by Satan/Lucifer. She once allowed passion to take her and her soul has turned dark. In the witch community, she is now a Black Witch. Eventually, her desire to dip into the dark well of power will consume her and she will be sentenced to hell.
Through no choice of his own, Darrak, an archdemon. He is condemned. He possesses a living being's body, but only for a short time. Once he drains them of their life energy, he passes on to his next host. Now, he finds himself in Eden. Rather than just a spectator, at sunrise he returns to human form with limited demonic abilities until sunset when he vaporizes and returns to possess Eden. Even there, Darrak and Eden can communicate. And for the first time in his existence, he has human emotion. Never in these 300 years has his determination to separate himself from his host been stronger. They try to solve this problem by approaching a magician assistant to break their curse without hurting either of them. Meanwhile, six women have gone missing, and Eden seems to be in the middle of it!
Something Wicked is part of Michelle Rowen`s Living in Eden Novels series. If you haven't read Book 1, The Demon in Me, I encourage you to do so, because Darrak rocks! He's just a few steps below the original bad guy.
Ms. Rowen's novel is emotionally driven. It did seem that Eden fit her name too well. I never thought of her as a Black Witch. Many times I thought she was too naïve for our time. As I kept reading Ms. Rowen kept be absorbed with this story. The character's motivations were strong, and I was never sure which direction it would take them. Eden grown to care for Darrak, can she keep a dark secret from him? Is Darrak so desperate for independence that he will risk Eden's soul? Read it to find out.

Its not always easy living with another person. Now imagine trying to live with another person inside of you, always privy to each others thoughts, knowing what you're going to do before you even know, never having any privacy -- ever. Yikes.
That's the premise behind Michelle Rowen's latest installment in the Living in Eden series. Poor psychic Eden Riley has a demon inside of her, literally. During the day, Darrak can take his own form. At night they share everything.
I was so excited to pick up this book, but found myself quickly disappointed. Unfortunately, Something Wicked fails to fulfill the promise of a fun and entertaining read. With a story-line that jumps so often one feels they have to use a notebook to keep track and characters that don't add anything to the main story, I found this book easy to walk away from and difficult to pick back up. The main character was often naive and unbelievable, and the narcissistic hero was a turn-off. Plus, the ending left a little something to be desired.
With so many wonderful paranormal romances on the shelf these days, skip this one and find something else.
A new plot and great idea for a series. I love the demon twist! This is the second book.
